So you're done playing with your X-Box or Nintendo Wii in your apartment, and want something a bit bigger, but where do you go? GameWorks Miami is part of a national chain of huge, indoor-only arcades featuring a variety of top-quality simulators and arcade games. Located at The Shops at Sunset Place mall, GameWorks also has an appetizing food and drinks menu - try the Santa Fe Chicken Potato Skins

or the Blue Cheese & Avocado Burger. Vegetarian apartment-ites will find the Warm Spinach & Artichoke Dip or the Black Bean Veggie Burger a tasty option. The drinks menu consists of mostly margaritas, martinis and cocktails, and there are beers on offer as well.

Aside from the food, though, the main attraction of GameWorks is, of course, the games. So how do they compare? Well, the arcade covers 31,000 square feet and boasts 2 floors of car racing, old-school favourite arcade games such as Pac-Man, and newer RPGs or shoot 'em-up games. If you go on a weekday, the lines are generally pretty short, and you can win prizes that vary each night. Of note is the roller coaster simulator (just don't eat first).

Admission is free for over-18s (which suggests a more adult-friendly atmosphere), but you'll need to buy token cards (starting from $5) to actually start playing the games. There have been several video game tournaments taking place at the Seattle and Grapevine locations, and a showdown at the Miami GameWorks is only a matter of time, so you may as well get down there and start preparing.
