Aside from the law school, the university offers majors in architecture, medicine and business, as well as several doctorate and master's programs. The faculty is comprised of 4,800 members, 96% of which have terminal degrees, and 54% of which have tenure. The university also engages in a high level of research, according to the Carnegie Foundation.
Once you've figured out your major, it's time to choose whether you want to live on or off-campus. If you want the former, your choices will be hard to narrow down from: Bay Vista Hall, University Park Apartments, Panther Hall, University Park Towers, Everglades Hall, Lakeview Hall North and Lakeview Hall South. All are at the university's main campus, apart from the Bay Vista Hall, which is at the Biscayne Campus (in North Miami, 40mins away from the main campus). Given such a wide variety of options, it's no surprise that only 14% of undergrads live off-campus.
Even after this, there's a great sense of community in the residence halls, with specific clubs and communities relating to different majors (The Architecture Community etc), and this is why a lot of potential undergrads and grads shortlist FIU as one of the best places to study.
